  今シーズンを振り返って
  ２０回もラウンドロビンが開催でき、いろんな人と様々なゲームが楽しめました。
やはりテニスはシングルスだなぁ〜、としみじみ思いますね。。
シングルスだと、みなさんの個性が出るんですね、いろいろと。それが面白くて、楽しくて。（相性があったり、普段と違う性格が垣間見れたり）また来シーズンもシングルスやりたくなりますよね。
ただ、やたらと雨に泣かされたこと、怪我人を出してしまったこと（私も腰を。。。）が反省点ですね。
ともかく、「テニスはシングルスが面白い」という賛同者を増やし、来シーズンもさらに盛大にラウンドロビン＆練習会を開催していきたいと思います。

  ファイナリスト・テニスの開会年度となった今年も終わりが近づいてきました。ファイリスト・テニスとその会員は第１回目の覇者の山田さんを祝福したいと存じます。　今年は20
試合があった長いシーズンでありましたが、 山田さんはレベルの高いプレーにより賞を受けるに値する選手です。ファイナリストの創始者として、同じ創始者の則包英希氏にも感謝を表します。
ファイナリスト・テニスは彼の貢献なしでは機能しませんでした。　また、ファイナリスト・テニスは会計係、コート確保係、テニスボール供給係、連絡係、メンバー募集係としての則包氏の援助を受け、彼は献身的で思慮のある務めを果たし、私たちは彼に大きな感謝をする次第です。　私たち会員の関係は強固で、ホームコートを持ち、深くシングルテニスを愛しています。
来年度が待ちどうしいですね。またお会いできる日まで…。

  帝国カップ、浄化センター / Finalist Members At Home Courts In Teikoku Cup
  ３連休の真ん中、草トーナメントの帝国カップＧ㈽に、メンバーから松本クンとのりかねが参戦しました。試合前に２時間の練習コートを確保し、ステパンズックさんヒッティングパートナーまで確保し、完全準備の万全体制で臨みました。
　松本クン初戦、終始ゲームをコントロールし強打で押しまくりの６−１で完勝でした。のりさん初戦は競いに競った好ゲーム。気合充実、前に出してパッシングというパターンが決まりなんとか５−３リードで迎えた15-15の場面で、突如の雷雨大雨でノーゲーム。
トーナメントはキャンセルとなってしまいました。次回頑張りましょう。
  Finalist co-founder Hideki Norikane and Takahiro Matsumoto played the Teikoku Cup tournament at Finalist Tennis' home courts - Jyoka Center in Ikoma on Sunday 16 July. It was Matsumoto's first tournament ever, and Norikane's fourth tourney of the year.
Before the event the 2 Finalist members along with David Stepanczuk lightly warmed up and drilled for two hours. Both Norikane and Matsumoto used the extra warm-up to play well in their opening matches. Matsumoto easily won 6-1, though he was obviously nervous. Norikane's match was suspended at 5-3 15 all, because of a sudden rain storm. The event will continue next week or the following week.

  酷暑に負けずにシングルス。松本クン初優勝 / Matsumoto Wins His First Tournament
  今年の最高気温を更新する、３０度を超える酷暑のコートで開催。みんな、早く勝って休憩したかったでしょうが、意に反し（？）長い試合が多くなり、大変でした。若さ充分・体力充実・体調万全の松本クンが強打で接戦をおしきりました。ためた体制から一気に放たれるフォアハンドのエッグボール！これは強烈ですね。
　参加の皆さん「お疲れ様でした」とともに強度の日焼けで大変でしたね。
  Takahiro Matsumoto Wins His First Finalist Round RobinTournament at Jyoka Center. The weather was very tough, with temperatures in the 90s.
It was the biggest Finalist round robin this year. Only Kaz Kumai was absent. However the big story wa sthe weather. Because of the heat 2 of the seven men either retired (Stepanczuk) or defaulted (Yamada) a match. Competition was very close. In the end Matsumoto had 3 wins and 1 loss, losing to Stepanczuk in his last match.

  雨にたたられ、途中で中止
  ついに梅雨に突入。６時間コート確保していましたが２時間で中止となり、残念。
ラウンドロビンは不成立で、順位・ランキングには反映しませんが、年間試合戦跡データにはカウントしますね。

  のりさん、ラウンドロビン初優勝
  相性について。岩さん＞松本さん＞長船さん＞岩さん、つまり
カウンターパンチャー＞ハードヒッター＞ディフェンダー＞カウンターパンチャーという図式が顕著に出たラウンドロビンでした。自分のＡパターンを強化するか，Ｂパターンを習得するかが強化練習ポイントなんでしょうか。
　試合は、なんとなく勝っていった則包が全勝優勝でした。

  宇治市市民総体
 

数十年の歴史に敬意を表し「クラッシク」と位置づけた宇治市市民総体の予選。太陽が丘の「足長・少砂」超低速オムニコートでエントリー４９人で行われました。我がサークルからは、のりかね、山田、長船３名が出場するも全員予選突破はできず、残念な結果でした。
　のりさんは6-2,6-5(7-0),3-6で２勝１敗。ハイライトは２試合目。タイブレーク最初のポイント、相手アプローチをランニングショットでショートクロスカウンターに決めて一気に調子に乗り、１ポイントも許さず勝利！が、１敗が効いて予選突破ならず。
　山さんは、若手のボレーヤーとプレースタイルが悪いほうにかみ合い、さらに苦手の遅いコートに悩まされ、5-7,6-2で１勝１敗。
　長船さんは、気の遠くなるような超守備的相手に悩まされ、長時間の試合で4-6で落としてしまいました。
　次回、奮起しましょう！

  熊井クン優勝！副賞もゲット
  　なんと初の副賞シューズケースが懸かったラウンドロビンとなりました。ステパンズックさんから草トーナメント商品の寄贈があり、これを副賞としたものです。切れの良いサーブをコーナーに散りばめ、攻守にそつないゲームを展開した熊井クンが全勝でラウンドロビン初優勝をはたしました

  ステパンズック２度目の優勝 / Stepanczuk Wins His Second Consecutive Finalist Round Robin
  Finalist Tennis co-founder David Stepanczuk won his second straight Finalist round robin tournament. Finalist round robin events are held for Finalist Tennis club members once or twice monthly. Stepanczuk won the event by winning all 5 of his matches. Combined with the 30 April event he won, Stepanczuk has won 9 of his last 10 matches. His only loss coming against Daisuke Yamada who retired after just two matches in the April 30 competition.
  コート１面で４ゲーム先取の短縮版での総当りとなりました。４ゲームで決まるので、集中力と１ポイントの大切さが身にしみます。先にリードしたら圧倒的に優位で、逆転は無かったようですね。
　ステパンズックさんが２度目の優勝を全勝で決めました。

  New Recruits
  Finalist Tennis would like to welcome three new members. They are Matsumoto, Kumai and Inoue. The 3 men are students at Nara Institute of Science & Technology, where Finalist Tennis co-founders David Stepanczuk and Hideki Norikane first met. Finalist Tennis is looking forward to a long, enjoyable friendship through singles tennis with its three new members.

  のりさん帝国カップでベスト４ / Norikane Makes It To The Teikoku Cup Semifinals
 

管理人のりさんは帝国カップで６−４，６−２と勝ち進んだものの、これに勝てば決勝という大事な試合、相手レフティのタフなテニスに３−６でダウン。またも（５回目か？）帝国カップの決勝への壁を突破できず。
  Hideki Norikane, co-founder of the Finalist Tennis club reached the semifinals of the Teikoku Cup tournament at the Finalists' home courts in Ikoma, Nara. Norikane made quick work of his first two lesser experienced opponents before crashing out in the semifinals. In the semis Norikane couldn't match the consistency and mental toughness of his opponent.

  ステパンズックＢＢテニス / Stepanczuk Reaches The BB Tournament Quarterfinals
 

管理人ステパンズック、準々決勝まで進出するも、大逆転で悔しい思いをした。５−０から追いつかれて５−５相手マッチポイントのレシーブにて、果敢にネットダッシュしてきた相手逆サイドへの絶妙ロブを上げるも、この状況で難しいスマッシュを決めた相手に拍手です。タイブレーク合戦でもちょっと残念なことに。
　ステパンズック得意の深北ハードコートでの試合でしたが、可も無く不可もなくといった戦跡か。
  Finalist Tennis' co-founder, David Stepanczuk played solid tactical tennis until he found himself leading 5-0 in the quarterfinals. At that point he had a crisis of confidence. With the score at 5-5 in the 21 man event, Stepanczuk was receiving serve at match point up. His opponent boldly attacked net. Stepanczuk sent up a deep lob over his opponent's backhand side, only to have him back up and hit a smash winner. At 5 games all the two men played a tiebreaker. Stepanczuk was again 2 points from victory at 5-3 when he lost the next 4 points.

  Finalist メンバー２人の決勝戦 / Finalist Members Meet In Princess Cup Finals
  プリンセスカップにて、メンバー同士の決勝戦が実現しました！
４月９日のプリンセスカップｉｎ寝屋川にて山田さんと長船さん。 我々のメンバー２人が予選、本線を勝ちあがり、決勝で顔合わせとなりました。
サフィン山田のパワーテニスはコートサーフェイスに吸収され、カウンタープレーヤーのナダル長船さんに３−０と押されていましたが、スライス＆チップ戦略に切り替えた山田さんの作戦が功を奏し逆転。最終的に６−４で山田さんの優勝で幕を閉じました。次回の不奮を期待しております！
  Daisuke Yamada and Akihiro Osafune played in the Princess Cup Charity tournament, in Neyagawa, Osaka on 9 April. The two Finalist Tennis clubmates fought their way to the final. Yamada's power game was useless against the speedy counter punching Osafune on the slow Omni court, and he found himself down 0-3. Yamada changed his tack and began chipping and slicing the ball, even using his new backhand drop shot. Yamada fought back for his first tournament victory, 6-4.

  Inagural Finalist Tennis Round Robin / 最初のFinalist ラウンドロビン
 

　強風と雪のちらつく悪天候のなか、栄えあるファイナリストテニスの初代ラウンドロビン勝者はステパンズックさん。
　ステパンズックさんは終始安定した試合を行い、５試合で４勝を得た。唯一の黒星は、強力フォアハンドに効果的なドロップショットを織り交ぜた山さんとの緒戦。しかし、最後の優勝決定戦では、若干の体力・集中力を残していたステパンズックの勝ちであった。。
　「本日のベストマッチ」はのりさん7-6(3)山田さんの一戦。力強いドライブの応酬で一進一退となったが、最後はのりさんの守備力と捨て身ボレーが効を奏した形となり、タイブレークの末決着。
　第１回で、参加者３人と寂しかったが、今後メンバーが増えることを願う。皆さん、参加しませんか？
 

Only three men took part in Finalist Tennis' first round robin. The round robin was won by David Stepanczuk. The conditions were tough. It was cold and very windy, with light snow.

Stepanczuk played solid and consistent tennis to win 4 of 5 matches. Yamada's powerful forehand and timely backhand drop shots made him tough to beat. His conditioning was his weak point as he tired easily in the final match against Stepanczuk, misfiring on most of his first serves.

The match of the day was the Norikane-Yamada match. Both men showed powerful, consistent drives. In the end it was Norikane's excellent defense, transition from defence to offence and surprising net play that helped him win in a tie-break 7-3.

The weather will soon be getting better. Finalist Tennis hopes more singles players will come out to compete.

   Calendar Updated
  Finalist Tennis will have round robin tournaments in February and April. The event will be at Jyoka Center, in Ikoma, Nara. The round robin tournaments are open to the first 5 men who contact Norikane or Stepanczuk.

Do you want to go see pro tennis? The Shimadzu Challenger tournament will be held in Kyoto from March 6 to March 12. Finalist Tennis is planning to go see the semifinals on Saturday 11 March. If you want to join us, contact Norikane or Stepanczuk.

   Finalist Tennis Club Becomes A Reality
     A tennis circle dedicated to low-intermediate and intermediate singles and competition has started in Kansai. American David Stepanczuk and Hideki Norikane have founded the Finalist Tennis Club. Our home court is Jyoka Center, in Ikoma, Nara.
    Since they first met in 2001 Stepanczuk and Norikane have dreamt of consistently practicing and competing at singles. They have been bringing low and low-intermediate players together since 2004. Because of their dedication to securing court time, contacting like-minded singles enthusiasts throughout Kansai, selecting a club name and starting a club information website their dream has become a reality.
    The Finalist Tennis Club will attempt to have round robin competitions and practises at least twice a month. These events are open to singles players in Kansai.
    Finalisttennis.info will act as the information hub. It will post schedules and results of Finalist round robins and other sinlges tournaments throughout the Kansai region. The Finalist url will keep rankings, profiles and photos of its members.
